Provide technical leadership in research and development in solving large-scale scientific and engineering problems. Specialties:Machine Learning, Solving Inverse Problems, High performance computing for large scale scientific and engineering problems, Parallel algorithm development, Preconditioning techniques and iterative and direct numerical methods, Generic programming, C++ programming, Computational ElectromagneticsAlgorithm Manager @ Lead and manage an algorithm group for critical dimension metrology. From May 2013 to Present (2 years 6 months) Principal Research Scientist @ Research and Development in scatterometry and metrology. From September 2010 to May 2013 (2 years 9 months) Participating Guest @ Collaborative research in applied linear algebra with application to computational electromagnetics. From 2005 to 2011 (6 years) Computer Scientist @ Provide a leadership role and develop new algorithms to enable large-scale end-to-end accelerator cavity simulation. Recent achievements include: 1. New algorithms for large eigenvalue problems by making use of its known null-space. 2. A new method to simulate waveguide-loaded superconducting cavity and to accurately compute a key physical quantity by solving a complex nonlinear eigenvalue problem. 3. Several novel algorithms to reduce memory usage in the simulations that were limited by amount of memory available even on state-of-the-art supercomputers. 4. A hybrid method (the conjugate gradient method with an hierarchical preconditioner) in solving large-scale indefinite linear systems from shift-inverted eigenvalue computations. 5. Quantifying the uncertainty of cavity shape through solving an inverse problem given measured cavity frequencies (eigenvalue) and field values (eigenvector). 6. Developing hp-refinement algorithms in time-domain simulations for short-range wakefield calculations. From 2003 to August 2010 (7 years) Research Associate @ Research and develop software components with emphasis on generic programming at Open Systems Laboratory, Pervasive Technology Labs. Designed, developed, and released the Generic Graph Component Library. Later it was accepted as the Boost Graph Library (see www.boost.org). From 2001 to 2002 (1 year) Ph.D., Computer Science and Engineering @ University of Notre Dame From 1997 to 2002 M.S., Physics @ Zhejiang University From 1993 to 1996 B.S., Physics @ Zhejiang University From 1989 to 1993 Lie-Quan Lee is skilled in: Algorithms, Numerical Analysis, Parallel Computing, C++, Machine Learning, MPI, Scientific Computing, Optimization, Mathematical Modeling, High Performance..., CEM, Finite Element Analysis, Simulation, Generic Programming, Simulations, R, Programming, Physics
