About Lee Englestone

📖 Summary

I'm a passionate and innovative web and software developer whom excels at lateral thinking, new ideas and automating/improving processes. Having knowledge and experience of a wide range of technologies, paradigms and methodologies I feel I can design and develop any solution required. What's more being a keen agile and lean advocate I can do so iteratively and focused on delivering and measuring value to the business. Disciplined practitioner of TDD to ensure refactorings minimises the introduction of new bugs. Huge proponent of clean code, SOLID principles and the use of design patterns where appropriate. Though i've untangled my fair share of spaghetti legacy code. To me developer mindset and attitude is just as important as skill and knowledge. More business acumen and social intelligence than your average developer. Eager, optimistic, pragmatic not dogmatic. As Tech Lead I mentor other developers guiding them to use best practices and avoid common pitfalls. As well as scoping, leading and deliver projects my Tech Lead duties extend to reviewing CVs and interviewing prospective developers with a view to expand our ever growing team of developers. One of my greatest passions in development is Continuous Integration and Quality Assurance. A good automated build and testing process is paramount to a well oiled development team. On a number of occasions I have implemented CI solutions to check that code in source control compiles and passes unit tests centrally as well as run integration tests with Selenium. In my current role I have also introduced Octopus Deploy, Technologies C#, VB.NET, ASP/VBScript, ASP.NET WebForms & MVC, WPF, Windows Forms, Windows Services, Windows Phone, Windows Universal apps, SQL Server, Oracle, Windows Azure, WCF, REST, XML, XSL, CSS3 & HTML5, Javascript, Angular, Team City, Octopus Deploy Methodologies, Approaches Agile, Scrum, Lean, TDD, DDD, OOD, DDD, SOLID, DRY, YAGNI Considerations Speed/Performance, SEO, Web AccessibilitySoftware Development Manager @ I manage a team of developers to ensure that development work aligns with the needs and goals of the business. I have responsibility for overall quality and performance of all solutions developed including our flagship site We're currently trying to grow the development team so please get in touch if you are an ASP.NET MVC developer. From September 2015 to Present (4 months) Stockport, United KingdomTech Lead @ Our client websites include Manchester United, Manchester City, Real Madrid, Formula 1, McLaren, NBA, NHL, NFL, Wimbledon, Barcelona, Ryder Cup, Chelsea, UEFA, Everton, Le Tour de France and England Rugby. After first joining I set about untangling inter-solution dependencies that were referencing each other simply via the file system and post build copying so that they were instead pulled from source control and built via Continuous Integration with TeamCity and creating NuGet packages that could be referenced instead. Once the Continuous Integration solution was in place that automatically attempts to compile and unit test code on each check in, I focused on improving the existing deployment process that was manual, time-consuming and error-prone involving local manual publishing, zipping and copying files to 6 load balanced servers each time. Extending TeamCity futher I also 'nugetified' each of our 25+ desktop and mobile websites. This allowed a deployment tool we implemented (Octopus Deploy) to take the NuGet packages and deploy them to our Testing, UAT and Live servers much faster and safer. Currently helping lead the development of our new platform migrating from ASP.NET WebForms to ASP.NET MVC including producing and delivering training to introduce developers to ASP.NET MVC. I also assess CVs and interview developers applying for positions at Kitbag. From December 2013 to September 2015 (1 year 10 months) Senior .NET Developer @ Implementation of Continuous Integration environment (Team City) Short employment due to change in business circumstances resulting in me unable to become development manager as agreed upon during interview. From September 2013 to December 2013 (4 months) Stockport, United KingdomSenior Silverlight and Azure Web Developer @ Silverlight and Azure web development From May 2012 to August 2013 (1 year 4 months) Senior Software Developer @ I extended and maintained a flagship ASP product that displayed, collated, processed and reported on survey statistics for variety of clients and sectors. We developed touch screen kiosk applications for clients such as the NHS. We gradually developed new sections in ASP.NET. I developed a prototype WPF application that combined a populated object graph and databound it to a WPF view containing hierarchicaly nested controls this would have had the benefit of click once deployment, overcome cross browser rendering issues and work nicely with the existing 'skinning' model. This was lightyears ahead of the existing implementation in ASP VBScript which constantly looped through recordsets and inside them opened up new recorsets and looped through them and so on. From March 2010 to May 2012 (2 years 3 months) Senior Software Developer @ Web development From August 2009 to June 2010 (11 months) eBusiness Technologist & Software Developer - Team Leader @ I worked with a talented team of web and software developers to create innovative solutions and improve business processes. This included Windows Forms, Windows Services and ASP.NET applications. After noticing that the company employee ActiveDirectory had been structured correctly and well maintained including links between employees and their managers I had the idea of parsing this hierarchy and creating an Intranet 'Staff Index' showing company teams, contact details and the hierarchy within teams and throughout overall company. As team leader I conducted developer monthly one to ones and half yearly appraisals as well as working with developers on their development learning plan. From October 2005 to August 2009 (3 years 11 months) Web Developer @ Web development From June 2005 to September 2005 (4 months) Web Developer @ Web development part time whilst at university From June 2005 to September 2005 (4 months) Global eBusiness Web Developer @ Worked in the AstraZeneca Global eBusiness Group on various eBusiness initiatives. Visited sites in Sweden and attended eBusiness conferences. From July 2003 to July 2004 (1 year 1 month) Bsc, Computation @ The University of Manchester From 2000 to 2004 Lee Englestone is skilled in: ASP.NET, C#, WPF, ASP, JavaScript, SEO, .NET, SQL, Leadership, Project Planning, Microsoft SQL Server, ASP.NET MVC, jQuery, Silverlight, VB.NET
