A few years ago I’ve had the idea that I would once be able to be a whole development team in one person. After years of really hard working, a lot of studying and creating a lot of products, I think I became already really close. The idea came from the perspective that I would like to build anything that passes my mind, without having to search for an additional developer in the early phase of a product. It all started in 2005 with some web development and building cross OS applications in Java. After doing many internal projects to learn the languages and frameworks a bit more, I started to explore iOS development. Moreover, as I was an Android user, I also started to build Android apps. After graduating Cum Laude and with honors, I went to work for OK GO where I worked on a different set of projects. Varying in developing iOS, Android and web apps/sites, but also scalability, server management and database architectures. In the mean time I wanted to develop one big project by myself where I somehow tried to finish my goal from a few years ago. Namely, being a whole development team in one person. I started to work on an event app called "Sneekweek App". I developed a REST API, CMS, Android & iOS app, but also learned about sales, partnerships, press, communications, etc. I’m aware of the ‘Jack of all trades, master of none’ speech. But I believe in the fact that it’s all relative and depends a lot on personal character. I also believe that being a master in one thing isn’t reliable anymore, not in the current startup ecosystem. Most of the startups don’t have the money to hire 4+ people to work on different systems. At least not in the first phase of a product. Not agreeing with me?
