💡 Technical & Interpersonal Skills
People first, products second. That's the credo that I live by and it's one of the things that arming myself with the proper technical skills, and then working closely with my team, has let me accomplish great things at Google.I was born and raised in the Twin Cities of Minnesota, a metro area that’s been known for its skilled labor force for decades. After graduating from college, I worked on my own for a few years, building and developing software. At that point, I realized that I was more interested in working in product management than as a software engineer. I moved to San Francisco, and founded my first startup, an innovative machine learning startup. We raised seed money from Founders Fund, built a world-class product, and sold it to Google in 2011. As a product manager, I was responsible for the design and implementation of many core features and algorithms for YouTube. Additionally, I was a consultant at Deloitte Consulting from July 2005 to January 2007 (1 year 7 months) in Greater Chicago Area. In this time, I worked on a variety of projects including a system that helps financial and telecommunication systems share information, a system that helps manage business processes, and a collaboratory filtering tool that I used to develop a new recommender system for YouTube based on user data. I also did research in several areas of human-computer interaction including online communities, local geographic information systems, recommender systems, machine learning, and collaborative filtering. In my free time, I enjoy playing Jeopardy! and playing the violin.
