Software Engineer @ I am the only engineer solely devoted to customer needs, effectively being on-call all the time to fix critical bugs affecting our system, as well as adding essential features to address customers’ business needs and to enhance their experience (e.g., adding support for multiple email templates, fixing campaign scheduling, tracking unsubscribes/resubscribes). I have personally onboarded nearly 40 customers, actualizing $1 million in annual recurring revenue within 5 months of starting. I've had to fix bugs and address issues across key components of our API, including rewriting our /persons endpoint (for customers’ end-user data)--crushing the average error rate from 0.249% to 0.0082%--and optimizing the /resources controller (for ingesting customer content), speeding up performance by 2x. More recently, I singlehandedly overhauled our API and existing databases to fix a previous mistake in the architecture with virtually no downtime. One or my proudest achievements is authoring a library to validate internal data structures (`validator`!!!), which has the best test coverage (100%) out of any Boomtrain code repository.
I'm also a proud member of Boomtrain's Standardization Task Force--ask me about it! From June 2014 to Present (1 year 5 months) San Francisco Bay AreaSoftware Engineer @ Wrote software components to serialize and parse EDI X12 eligibility and claim status transactions to and from health insurance companies and medical claims clearinghouses, including Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas/Kansas City, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, and Cigna.
In my capacity as a data engineer, I optimized business and provider lookups by denormalizing data in MongoDB, analyzed insurance claim data and compiled cost reports for the top 50 most common medical procedures in cities across the US, and designed and laid the groundwork for a cost prediction tool for procedures. From January 2014 to June 2014 (6 months) San Francisco Bay AreaData Pipeline Engineer @ Maintained MySQL schema and Django models representing normalized music metadata as new fields and relationships were added, and configured Solr schema and data import handlers to import and index this metadata from MySQL across several Solr indexes. Wrote and maintained a suite of automated tests to ensure that newly ingested metadata, as well as overridden metadata, was properly properly indexed in Solr. Developed and wrote unit tests for components enabling the Python web service API to query Solr. From August 2013 to November 2013 (4 months) San Francisco Bay AreaQA Analyst Intern @ Thoroughly tested, documented, and reported bugs found in front-end applications used by a community of over 57,000 users; tracked bugs and oversaw them to their resolution; updated and maintained relevant design documents. From January 2013 to August 2013 (8 months) Graduate Student @ Researching phonetic approximation between Korean and English. From August 2011 to 2013 (2 years) CS Dept Teaching Assistant @ Graded homework and facilitated lab help sessions. From September 2010 to May 2012 (1 year 9 months) DREU Research Intern @ Implemented a statistical machine translation system for Xhosa to English text. From May 2011 to August 2011 (4 months) Intern Program Manager @ Collected data requirements from researchers working on contextual ads for adCenter; collated data for the adCenter Open Development team. From June 2008 to August 2008 (3 months) DMP Research Intern @ Explored the effect of the perception of movement to the attribution of intelligence of animated figures; edited motion curves in Maya for experimental animations; put on a motion capture suit (!!!) for creating aforementioned animations. From June 2007 to August 2007 (3 months) CS Dept Teaching Assistant @ I'm in your lab, assisting you with your homework (without giving away answers). From February 2006 to May 2007 (1 year 4 months)
