Nelson’s career started in mortgage banking in 1986 with Banker's First Mortgage. In October 1989 she relocated to the Atlanta-based Sun America Mortgage where she began to grow her personal production volume to an incredible $220 million annually by 2002. Her outstanding performance gained her regional and national recognition as number one in Georgia for annual production by Mortgage Bankers Association and number four in the nation for number of loans originated by Mortgage Originator Magazine.
In July 2003, Nelson was entrusted with additional management responsibilities following the acquisition of Sun America Mortgage by Virginia based SunTrust Mortgage. Since 2003, Nelson opened offices for SunTrust Mortgage in Greenville, South Carolina; Charlotte, Greensboro, and Raleigh, North Carolina; and Tampa, Florida. She was the driving force behind extraordinary sales growth and profitability, while she also provided award winning sales leadership in highly competitive markets, with annual production volume exceeding 1 billion.
Nelson has been named a ‘Phenomenon’ by one of the nation’s top speakers and sales trainers, 24-year industry veteran Doug Smith. After more than two decades of serving the mortgage community Nelson’s dream of owning her own business has come to fruition. LoanSouth Mortgage currently has offices in Atlanta, Athens and Greensboro, Georgia with additional locations opening soon serving the Southeast. Nelson and her husband of 23 years have two children.
