The Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) improves lives, strengthens communities, and fosters civic engagement through service and volunteering. Annually, CNCS engages more than five million Americans in service through Senior Corps, AmeriCorps, and other programs; improves communities through the Social Innovation Fund; and leads President Obama’s national call to service initiative, United We Serve. Built and managed the successful state government relations operation for the largest trade association representing the technology industry. Managed five regional offices including Sacramento, California. Hired, trained and managed in-house and contract lobbyists in regional offices and other states as needed. Developed key relationships with state attorneys general on behalf of the industry. Coordinated with Congressional and policy teams at TechAmerica to advance initiatives important to the industry. Successfully built coalitions of member companies and outside groups around key industry issues. From November 2009 to September 2010 (11 months) President @ Strategic government relations consulting firm working with non-profits, corporations and associations. Special focus on building successful programs at the state and local level. Advised clients on best practices and strategies for working with groups representing elected officials at the state and local level: National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG), Conference of Western Attorneys General (CWAG), Senate Presidents Association, National Speakers Conference, State Legislative Leaders Foundation, and many others. Past clients included Universal Music Group, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), Rosie O'Donell's For All Kids Foundation, the Human Rights Campaign and the US Chamber of Commerce. From February 2007 to January 2009 (2 years) Senior Vice President, State Government and Industry Relations @ Managed the fifty-state government relations programs for the domestic recording industry. Built and maintained an extensive network of lobbyists in the states to address issues important to the industry. Developed relationships with Governors, Mayors and State Attorneys General to educate policymakers about the recording industry. Developed relationships with the National Speakers Conference, Senate Presidents Forum, National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) and the State Legislative Leaders Foundation on behalf of the industry and its member record companies.
