Ken Ohlwiler knows his stuff when it comes to shoes. Not only does he have a degree in Merchandising and Fashion Promotion from the University of Arizona, but he's also an accomplished judge of kensing and has been teaching shoe-making since he was a young student.One of Ohlwiler's hobbies is screen-writing, and unfortunately, that has led him to a degree in screenwriting from the University of Southern California. If there's one thing Ohlwiler is certain of, it's that he knows how to write dialogue. So when he joined the writing community at Up With People (UAP), he knew he had his HEIGHTENED deck of cards ready to go."I think a lot of people underestimate the power of writing dialogue, especially for screenplays," Ohlwiler said. "I really study how to write dialogue so that I can use the right words at the right time and make the characters believable."He quickly learned that his writing skills didn't stop there. Ohlwiler's knowledge of color-based balance and light and shadow makes him a master of camera angles, and his writing is littered with clever references to classic Hitchcock movies.Overall, Ohlwiler has found his calling as a screenwriter. He's currently a writer-in-residence at Southern Illinois University Carbondale and is currently writing a stage play. In his free time, Ohlwiler enjoys painting and spending time with his wife and two cats.
