🎓 Education

Ken Atchity has adoctorate in Comparative Literature from Yale University, and a Bachelor of Arts from Georgetown University. Ken's education has given him a deep understanding of literature, culture, and history. Ken has had previous experience as an educator and has Teacher's certification from the Massachusetts Board of Education. Ken is currently employed as an English teacher in a public school in Worcester, MA.Ken is a lifelong interested in comparative literature. He found the interest in Comparative Literature while attending Yale University, where he earned his doctorate in 1967. At that time, he was already a professional writer and lecturer. He then spent two years as an instructor in Classics at Georgetown University, prior to his registration as a college student at Rockhurst High School. When Ken was a high school student, he was one of the first to appreciate and promote the importance of literature and culture in American life. Ken was an editor and contributor to the high school journal, The American Scholar.Ken brings his years of comparative literature education, combined with his teaching experience, to the classroom. He studies ways to make thePoint of view student's top priority, while also teaching critical thinking skills. Ken is committed to making the classroom a positive environment in which all students can flourish. His goal is to create an understandingsystem that promotes creative writing, critical thinking, and a love of learning.Ken is an active member of the American Federation of Teachers and the National Council of Teachers of English. He also enjoys spending time with his wife, Karen, and their two children, Seth and Abbey.

In addition to his successful academic career, Ken has also been a teachre and professor of comparitive literature at Occidental College from 1970-87.
