Patel then undertook his post-graduate studies at the University of California, Berkeley where he completed his MPhil in computer science in 1994. Patel was a Research Associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 1994-1998 and then a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Utah in 1998-1999. Patel has since also become a full-time professor at the University of California, Berkeley.Patel's research interests lie in Distributed Systems and Services. He has published extensively on the topic and has been involved in many of the world's most advancedritofts in this field. Patel is also the author of a book on the subject and several technical papers on the topic.
