As an artist, Kama primarily studied American art, although her art circles also included international artists. She found that despite being a recent college graduate, her knowledge of art and its historical context was limited."I was really limited in my knowledge of art," Carnes said. "Kamas an artist, it doesn't have to have to be about the modern. I like to carry on traditions, but also I like to think about how things might have been different if a different artist were working centuries ago."Kama Carnes's work readiness has been improved greatly since she transferred to Oregon. She has begun to explore her artist credentials and learn more about the history of modern art. Additionally, Kama is currently studying for her sixth-month retake of the National Security Administration's Official secrets security clearance test. This test, which is used as a pre-semester certification for prospective diplomats and other government officials, is a must-pass for any individual hoping to pursue a career in the diplomat or government field.Kama Carnes is now looking to continue her education by studying dance and Vocal Performance at the University of Oregon. While the coursework and study schedule for this program are new for her, she is already excited about it. The dance and vocal performance program is designed to provide career-level training that will help Kama Carnes grow into an effective diplomat."One of my goals is to get a government job," Carnes said. "That way, I'll have experience with many different agencies and I'll have been able to learn not only about security, but also about policymaking."While studying for her security clearance test, Kama Carnes is also working on a new project that she is excited to share with her classmates. The project is called "100 Miles an Hour" and it is an art project that will take her 100 miles an hour through a city's streets. Kama is excited about the idea of living and working in an environment that is as fast-paced as the project she is working on.Kama Carnes is a product of a two-year art history and two-year English program. Her education has taught her that although she is a recent college graduate, she has a lot to contribute to the art world and her future career as an artist.
