Julie Anne Mossler is a growth and communications strategist specializing in consumer tech launches, hypergrowth transition and crisis management for first-to-market lifestyle brands. She currently serves as head of global communications, policy and creative launch strategy at Waze and works across drivers, governments and influencers to make connected cities a reality.
Prior to managing Waze comms during acquisition by Google in June 2013, Julie was both the first PR and Consumer Marketing hire at Groupon, building the comms department globally and navigating through its IPO. She shaped policy on controversial deal categories from gun ranges to sex shops, served as primary global spokesperson and developed award-winning integrated marketing stunts like LiveOffGroupon.com to accelerate growth.
In life prior to the tech industry, Julie honed her skills at various PR agencies, developing experiential launch events for luxury alcohol brands and music acts. Concurrently, she became a go-to advisor in times of crisis for both small business owners and major brands, overseeing response strategy to mitigate damage and create opportunities for change. This personal drive to scratch both the left and right brain has been a quirky and vital trend in her career.
Julie appeared on PRWeek's "Innovation 50" in 2014 and "40 Under 40" list in 2011, and was named as one of the "Top 50 Tech PR People" in 2013 by Business Insider. In her free time she's a consultant and advisor to several startups – past clients include GoButler, Donde, NerdWallet, Applauze and more. Julie’s also a person outside of work! ....a proud native Chicagoan, dancer and an obsessive consumer of new media and cover songs.
