In addition to these positions, Joy also had management roles at the Republican National Committee (2002-2003), the National Republican Committee (2004-2005), the AT&T Foundation (2006-2007), and most recently at American Public Power Association from January 2012 to April 2014 (2 years 4 months).In February 2001, Joy became joined in the firm by her husband, Tim Ditto. They have 2 children.Joy Ditto was born in Syracuse, New York and raised in Northern Virginia. She is a graduate of the University of Virginia with a B.S. in economics. From 1986 to 1992, Joy worked as an exploration associate with Energy Dynamics, an energy research firm. From 1992 to 1994, she was an economist with the Environmental Protection Agency. From 1994 to 1997, she was an Economist at the U.S. Senate where she was the Chief of Staff. From 1997 to 2001, she worked as a Legislative Assistant to Senator Hagel (R-NE) on energy and environmental issues. From 2001 to 2003, she was a legislative aide to Rep. McDade (R-PA) on energy and state government issues. From 2003 to 2007, she was the Legislative Assistant to Senator McCain (R-AZ) on energy and state government issues. From 2007 to 2013, she was the Legislative Assistant to Rep. Sherwood (R-PA) on energy and state government issues. From 2013 to present, she is the Legislative Assistant to Sen. Hagel (R-NE).

Joy Ditto holds a B.A. in History and Political Science from Vanderbilt University, and a Certified Executive in Nonprofit Management from Georgetown University. Ditto has also been Practicing Museum Management since she earned her certification in 2012. Joy Ditto has been working as a Director of Operations for a Museum since she began her teaching career.
