💼 Past Experience

Joseph Nelson has a completed college degree in political science and data science. He has been a data engineer and business consultant since he was 26 years old. In his previous roles, Nelson has experience working with businesses of all sizes, including large Fortune 500 companies and startups. He is currently a summer associate at Purple Strategies, part of the Distinguished Faculty at General Assembly, in Washington D.C. Metro Area. There, he is a professor of data science and has worked with businesses such as FleishmanHillard and United States Senate. In his previous roles, Nelson also gathered and analyzed data for Congressional campaigns and created visual stories for marketing purposes. He received a “GAccolade” for his work in 2016.After college, Nelson worked for a year as a research analyst for a potential client and witness Investigations at Dowling Catholic High School. He then worked as a research analyst for the Republican Party of Iowa for one year. He also gained experience as a campaign and events intern for the Senator from Iowa and for multiple local newspapers. Nelson also won a The World Food Prize Foundation grant in 2011 to write a 14-page research paper on the “Modern Silk Road: Afghanistan’s Bridge to Stability.” The paper wasselected to participate in a dialogues focused on world hunger with international politicians.

After completing his high school education, Joseph Nelson worked as a data analyst for a Swiss software company in New York City before starting his own business as a developer in Baltimore, Maryland.Now, more than 12 years since his graduation from Dowling Catholic High School, Joseph Nelson is a full-time developer and entrepreneur, working in Baltimore, Maryland and his home country of Hungary. Joseph Nelson is ambitious and dedicated to his work, and his focus on expanding the reach of his business makes him an articulate and inspired leader in the field of development economics and international development.
