💼 Past Experience

I am currently a Director, Creative Licensing at ALIBI Music Library. I have been a music supervisor and clearance VI for certain music industry companies for over 10 years. Iainedirector, Specialty Licensing-2008-2009 at Warner Bros. Records, Inc. I was also Music Supervisor at Universal Music Group-2007-2008. I have also worked as a freelance music supervisor and assistant Director at Sony Music Entertainment, Mirage Sound and PolyGram. I have an M.Ed. from the University of Maryland, College Park. My main focus on music supervision is the clearance and management of records for the Vinyl format. clearance operations:I play a big role in the clearance and management of records for the Vinyl format. In my role as a music supervisor and assistant Director at Sony Music Entertainment, I worked on a variety of projects in which I was responsible for the clearance and management of records. I typically work with the clearance supervisor, who is responsible for the entire record clearance process. Together, we work on finding the appropriate release, ensuring that all materials received are in compliance with playback regulations and label requests, and ensuring that the release meets the expectations of the fans.I also play a big role in the development of new music releases. I help to come up withconcepts, strategies, and plans for each new release. I work with the artists, their managers, and the label to come up with a creative vision for the album and help make sure that the material arrives in a timely manner. Composing and Producing:I also compose and produce music. I have written and produced music for a variety of projects, from commercials to films. I have written and produced music for a number of artists, including ringers for a Broadway show, songs for a popular girl group, and scores for a number of TV shows and films. I also have a two-record EP released under my own name that was recorded and produced by myself.Musical Direction:I am also a musician. I have worked as a music director for a number of different entertainers. I have also directed music pour live performances and special events. I have worked with a variety of different bands and orchestras. In my role as a music director, I help to develop and plan the show, provide excellent music supervision, and make sure that all the performers are able to have a good time.What I love most about my work experience is the opportunity to work with so many different types of artists and 22 different labels. I feel that the collaboration and experience I have had with these companies is essential to my success in music supervision. I am excited to continue my career in music supervision and to continue working with these companies.

🎓 Education

Joseph Miller's education began by attending SUNY Oneonta in September 2022. There, Joseph earned a degree in Music Industry from the vaunted school of Audio Production. Upon his graduation, Joseph's skills and experiences would be put to use as part of the Audio production team at a New York based agency. Joseph has completed a number of breaks and deployments in order to keep himself in the best shape possible. He currently resides in New York City and works in the music industry. He continues to strive and improve his skillset through hard work, trial and error, and the generous support of his family and friends.

💡 Technical & Interpersonal Skills

It began with a bit of insecurity. I’d been watching my classmates and friends wing it in their music industry roles for years, and I wanted to be in there too. I landed my first job in music production, as a copywriter and graphic design intern, and I loved it. I was 20 years old and solving problems, working with some of the biggest names in the industry.But then I started seeing the cracks in the industry. I was constantly arguing with managers and upper-echelon staff about what music should be released, or why. I wasn’t getting my own ideas heard. My boss’s opinion (and the opinion of most of the staff) always win.And then I started bigging myself up. I was suddenly a name in the industry, and no one wanted to work with me. My friends and family started to distance themselves. I couldn’t understand why they would stay in the business if I was no longer contributing.But then something miraculous happened: my boss offered me a backburning job as a music librarian. I was incredulous, but it was the perfect opportunity to plant my flag in the industry and figure it out.I hit the ground running, and within a few months I’d developed a comprehensive strategy for destroying the competition. I cratered with professional harassers and accusers, but I kept hustling and grinding.In the end, I was named Director of Music Libation at ALIBI Music Library, where I continue to do my fieldwork and help shape the moves of the music industry.Joseph Miller’s Professional, Technical, and interpersonal skills:Joseph Miller is highly articulate, articulate and able to communicate complex ideas well.
