📖 Summary
Principal Chief Architect, Advanced Research Group @ Hitachi Vantara Santa ClaraSr Software Engineer @ Peloton Technology Peloton Technology is a company working on delivering various levels of automation to the freight industry, with an aim to save fuel costs and improve safety.I was part of the platform team, developing the in-truck systems for the automation and control systems to operate on.My key initiatives during my time at Peloton were for improving fault detection and reporting using automated data upload and processing pipelines, enabling us to identify faults during test runs and ensuring the automation systems were operating within design parameters. From April 2018 to August 2019 (1 year 5 months) Mountain View, CaliforniaChief Architect @ Nexsan I transitioned to Nexsan with their acquisition of ConnectedData in 2015.Whilst there, I worked on integrating the ConnectedData technology into the Nexsan enterprise storage systems, as well as working on their core storage system technologies, including working on ZFS/Solaris internals. From November 2015 to December 2017 (2 years 2 months) Campbell, CaliforniaChief Architect @ Connected Data Co-founder at ConnectedData, we designed and built a peer-to-peer storage system which offered an on-premises equivalent to file-sync-and-share systems like Dropbox.Once consumer/business customers purchased the systems, they could host and share content with other systems whilst maintaining full control over their content, none of it being uploaded to 3rd party cloud servers. We had approx 70,000 deployed customer systems.ConnectedData was acquired by Nexsan in 2015 From July 2012 to November 2015 (3 years 5 months) Senior Software Architect @ Overland Storage During my time at Overland Storage, I worked on a range of products from embedded firmware in their next-gen LTO archive array, to their core RAID technology for the NAS line of products and a new scale-out cluster storage system with an object-store backend. From April 2011 to July 2012 (1 year 4 months) Software Architect @ Data Robotics Founding engineer/architect at Data Robotics, we designed and built a family of consumer/small business direct and network attached storage servers.I led the overall software design and architecture and was also the principal developer for the key "Beyond RAID" storage technology, covering data redundancy, drive failure handling/recovery, as well as advanced functionality such as RAID dynamic expansion, data tiering, SSD caching, data consistency validation, performance tuning etc.During my time at Data Robotics we shipped over 100,000 storage systems. From June 2005 to April 2011 (5 years 11 months) Principal Member of Technical Staff @ BlueArc Founding engineer at BlueArc, we designed and built a NAS fileserver with the core filesystem implemented in FPGAs, delivering class leading performance.I was principal in reverse engineering the Microsoft SMB stack and rolling our own implementation from scratch to be on-the-wire compatible with Windows clients. One of the few 3rd party SMB stacks in existence.Team lead for the network/protocol development team.BlueArc was successfully sold to Hitachi in 2011. From March 1999 to June 2005 (6 years 4 months)
