There, he was responsible for all aspects of the company's marketing, from product development to sales and marketing.Hartsig was named Senior Vice President and Chief Merchandising Officer at Walgreens in March 2020. He was promoted to Associate Brand Manager in 1992 and then to Commercial Loan Officer. In 1996, Hartsig was promoted to Senior Vice President and Chief Merchandising Officer at Walgreens. There, he led Walgreens’ successful effort to reopen several stores in the Chicago area, and he also developed and implemented plans for Walgreens’ Arena locations and the company’s first ever online presence.Through his work at Walgreens, Hartsig developed a deep understand of customer needs, and he was able to craft some of the company’s most successful marketing campaigns. These campaigns include the unsuccessful attempt to increase sales at the Microsoft Store in Deerfield, IL, and the successful effort to increase sales at the zoo. In 2007, he also led Walgreens’ successful rebranding effort, which focused on creating a more personal and unique experience for Walgreens’ customers.Since his time at Walgreens, Joe Hartsig has held a number of high-level positions in the company, most notably as Senior Vice President (CMO) and Vice President/GM (GMM) for Walmart Sam’s Club Division. He has also held a number of other senior management positions at other businesses, including as Senior Vice President/GM at Motorola from 2001 to January 2009, Vice President/GM at ConAgra Foods from 1997 to 1999, and Associate Brand Manager at SC Johnson from 1992 to 1994.In his spare time, Joe Hartsig enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children.
