Throughout his career as a transportation engineering professional, Jim Monkmeyer has earned a Master's degree in Transportation from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from University of Wisconsin-Madison. Monkmeyer's degree years have been stretched from 1984-1990 and 1996-2002. Monkmeyer's athletic achievements include Hero's Ball Hockey, Keaton Hockey Clubs, community service, and most notably, Offensive Rookie of the Year and Midseason All- American on the Eastern Hockey League's (EHLL) Mahoning Valley Jr. Thunder during the 1984-1990 seasons. Monkmeyer was an all-American at Madison in his 2004-2006 season and a two-time Midseason All- American selection in his 1989-1991 seasons. Monkmeyer is an owner, member and captain of the Mahoning Valley Jr. Thunder and currently playing as an assistant coach with the Dayton Bombers of the United League (UHL). Monkmeyer has also coached the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League (WHL) for the past two seasons, compiling a record of 46-24-9. Monkmeyer is also the owner, member and captain of the Mahoning Valley Jr. Thunder for the 2014-2015 season. Monkmeyer is a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers and a member of the American Hockey League's (AHL) Buffalo Sabres. Monkmeyer has also been a coach in the United Hockey League (UHL) for the past two seasons, compiling a record of 46-24-9.
