When Jim Fried was born in October 1961, he and his family lived in Miami-Dade County, Florida. Jim worked as an economist in the Miami metropolitan area before moving to Orlando, Florida in 1988 to become a senior real estate consultant at Merrill Lynch. He then worked as a vice president at The Miami Company, a subsidiary of Merrill, until 1996. In Miami, Jim was involved in a campaign to become a Miami Commission Candidate, and he was elected as a commissioner in August 2019. He then moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida to be a managing director at The Miami Company and become a Board of Directors Member in October 2022. In October 2022, Jim moved to Boca Raton, Florida to become the Vice President - Equities at Merrill Lynch. As Vice President - Equities, he was responsible for the mortgage loan origination and servicing functions at Merrill. Fried then worked for about eight years in the real estate industry before deciding to branch out and obtaining a Master's degree in business from the Warrington College of Business. Fried is currently the Managing Principal of the Fried and Ribeiro Realter Practice Group and has been in this role for over fifteen years.
