I have two passions in life. High quality of the products I work on, and working with awesome and young professionals. Quality to me is all about accessibility and flexibility of code, and I love to measure these results thoroughly.
I graduated Cum Laude in July 2007 at the Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences and then worked at Tam Tam as a front-end purist for 5 years. They made it possible for me to work part-time at microsoft as an accessibility evangelist, where my passion for clean code and accessibility became my Magnum Opus.
By the end of 2011 I left Tam Tam to start eBrella Front-end, an umbrella for Front-end kings and queens, who we continuously match with beautiful clients. I still work part-time at Microsoft to continue my journey towards a more accessible internet, and joined KING Gemeenten by the end of 2012 to help them convince governmental institutes to commit to the Dutch Web Guidelines.

In June 2011 we won the Microsoft Gold Star Team Award with the 4 people working on the Accessibility Project as a recognition for the efforts to make Accessibility part of our business and of the business of our partners.
In May 2013 we were recognized by Microsoft HQ for our work in the Netherlands on leadership advocacy. This was what they said about our work:
"Advocate for of Accessibility across the Netherlands. Realizing that only a tiny percentage of government websites were accessible, Gonnie (Been) and her team launched a website to document the effect of a highly accessible website. Signed ‘Treaty of Schiphol’ to drive accessibility of websites in government, public and private sector and services in Netherlands. The team assisted the government in finding a solution to address website accessibility. As a result MSFT was recently recognized by NL’s government as a thought leader and prominent example and their work is now part of the NL National Plan." From December 2010 to June 2015 (4 years 7 months) EXPERT WCAG 2.0 & Dutch Web Guidelines / Marketing responsible in campaign Simply Accessible @ January 1st of 2015, all government organisations have to comply with WCAG 2.0 Level AA. The road ahead is probably going to be bumpy for most of them, so over the past 2 years we built 4 components to support all government organisations. Starting October 1st of 2014, the campaign Simply Accessible was launched.
My responsibility in this campaign is diverse. I’m the spokesperson for the whole campaign, organize and present webinars and sessions throughout the Netherlands, talk to web agencies and auditing companies in order to get them to feel and use our tools. Last but not least, I organized and manage a team of Accessibility consultants to support government organizations in reaching their goal: being 100% accessible on January 1st From August 2014 to March 2015 (8 months) The Hague Area, NetherlandsErvaringsdeskundige en Adviseur Webrichtlijnen @ Working as an accessibility expert to facilitate and support Dutch municipalities to match Dutch Web Guidelines. These guidelines are based on WCAG 2.0 (W3C).
By conducting research on Dutch government agency policies and ways of working, and taking apart every guideline to the smallest details, I've been able to write a document that is easy to read, cuts away all the unnecessary complexities and rare occasions, and hopefully helps all organizations to gain momentum in their journey towards a more accessible web.
