I've spent my entire working career in tech, specifically related to the Automotive industry. I knew next to nothing about how car dealerships and dealers themselves operated but I have become passionate about finding ways to apply technology solutions to one of the largest industries in the USA. Combining my tech and automotive background, I have spent time on building marketplaces to bring consumers and car dealers together and creating mobile applications to provide access to the marketplaces from any location.
Software Developer @ A more in-depth description of projects I've worked on can be seen on my website at http://www.jeremykreutzbender.com/experience
2015:
I began working with a new team at the start of the year and am now working primarily on writing internal APIs in Ruby on Rails.
Currently:
Market Pricing API: I helped create an API that powers a portion of TrueCar pricing. The API takes values out of ElasticSearch and runs them through different equations to produce an output for clients needing pricing information.
Messaging API: I am working on a portion of our messaging api relating to Push Notifications and SMS for our mobile clients. It is being built from the ground up to support Apple and Google push notifications for multiple mobile applications a long with SMS for non-application users.
2014:
The main project I worked on was the Sell My Car application (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/sell-my-car-truecar-labs-project/id888874505?mt=8 ). There were two parts:
The server: Written in Ruby on Rails, I did small portions of work on different parts of the backend when I needed endpoints to behave properly for the mobile application.
The Mobile App: An application to create a report on a user's car. The user would take answer questions and take photographs of the car and send that report to the server.
iOS specifics include:
Objective-C
Core Data
Autolayout (App is fully functional on all size devices)
XCTest and OCMock From January 2014 to Present (2 years) San Francisco Bay AreaSoftware Developer @ I continued to work in iOS and Objective-C here and there (Less than two months total work).
I transitioned into a web development position with minimal starting experience. The stack was built on:
Ruby on Rails
JavaScript / jQuery
HTML / CSS (Sass)
MySQL
Other Technologies Used:
Github
Jira (Bug Tracking)
Confluence (Documentation)
Rollbar (Real Time Error Tracking)
Jenkins (CI)
A few projects included:
Created a dashboard pertinent to Account Manager's everyday activities and a data collection task (primarily with MySQL) that ran daily collecting information to feed into the dashboard.
I took an empirical approach with a user experience designer to a section of the website that was seen by every CarWoo! user and was receiving very negative feedback. We analyzed the feedback and pulled data to drive a full re-write of the section. We used Backbone.js (only views) and templates to change the section from a jarring experience into a seamless modal view displayed in different locations.
Applied a Bootstrap like CSS theme to a large portion of the internal tools, dashboards, and panels. From January 2013 to December 2013 (1 year) Software Developer Intern @ Developed an iOS application from the ground up.
Components to the application included:
Persisting user data with Core Data
Multithreaded capabilities and asynchronous programming
Push Notifications with UrbanAirship
Delegation and internal notification handling From July 2012 to December 2012 (6 months) Student IT Staff @ My co-worker and I maintain computers used by administrative personnel in the College of Engineering. Responsibilities include new computer set-up and deployment, daily troubleshooting of errors, failed hardware replacement, user and computer networking through active directory, and using Maintain (a multi-user, web based manager of DNS & DHCP). From June 2009 to August 2012 (3 years 3 months)
