Jennifer Chayes holds a B.S. from the University of California, Berkeley in 1992 and a M.S. from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1995. In 1997, Chayes was certified as a Master of Science in Mathematics by the American Mathematical Society. From 1997 to 1999, she worked as a Technical Fellow at Microsoft Research in Redmond, WA. She then moved to UCLA to become a Professor of Mathematics there from 1999 to 1987. In 1985, Chayes became a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Mathematics and PhysicsDepartments at Harvard University. She also spent two years as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Laboratory of Atomic and Solid State Physics at Cornell University.
