📖 Summary
Software Engineer - Production @ Facebook Working on Facebook's Messaging Infrastructure team. Greater Seattle AreaSoftware Development Team Lead @ Apptio I am the lead developer on a small, agile team developing Apptio's Datalink product. Datalink is an data-ingestion (extract and load) engine used to migrate information from a number of remote data sources such as SQL Server, Amazon AWS, Centurylink, Softlayer, ServiceNow, BMC and flat file. Development includes full stack (backend Java Service, web server and frontend) requiring me to write Java and Javascript. My responsibilities include the planning and implementation of major product features, troubleshooting and fixing customer issues and reviewing/committing code daily to our source repository. Notable projects/responsibilities include:- Lead development of platform redesign which resulted in a RESTful API which can be leveraged by our new front end web site as well as customers and other service in the Apptio product suit.- Responsible for working with customers to deploy software to extract data from source systems. I strive to have very quick turn around on all investigation and development tasks for customer requests and issues.- My team is responsible for the entire life cycle of our software. We've applied a DevOps approach to deploying and maintaining our code resulting in faster deployment, higher quality code and faster responsiveness to issues in production. From September 2015 to March 2016 (7 months) Greater Seattle AreaSoftware Development Engineer II @ Apptio Notable projects/responsibilities continued:- Worked closely with a principal developer to redesign and modernize our software stack. We leveraged new technology to us to produce a modern web service. I implemented a majority of our RESTful API that allows users to control the product.- Worked on the new RPC protocol in which separate parts of the product communicate. We utilized web-socket technology to leverage standard web technology for communication between processes. This allowed us to scale quickly leveraging existing infrastructure reducing need for high church upon upgrade. From March 2015 to September 2015 (7 months) Greater Seattle AreaSoftware Development Engineer @ Apptio Notable projects/responsibilities continued:- Development of new upload API. The new API allows for fault tolerant upload of data to Apptio's data engine to prevent failed uploads due to latency, packet filtering or disconnects.- Responsible for managing the products user-interface redesign focusing on consistency and usability.- Being a team advocate for continual improvement, encouraging quick turn around on code reviews on all commits and promoting high levels of unit test coverage throughout the product. From February 2014 to February 2015 (1 year 1 month) Greater Seattle AreaSoftware Engineer @ Isilon Systems - EMC - Developed system level services used for authentication, identity management and authorization for access to Unix and Windows file sharing protocols as well as FTP, HTTP and SSH on Isilon's OneFS distrusted file system. - System services facilitated file access in a mixed Windows and Unix permission ecosystemDevelopment included working with Microsoft's Active Directory, LDAP, NIS and /etc/passwd based user management systems. - Development was tied closely with network protocol stacks such as SMB and NFS developed on the Likewise platform.- Helped implement an API and shared libraries for a REST based web service for administration and system configuration.- Created and maintained a virtualized test ecosystem for LDAP and Active Directory using VMware’s vSphere cloud tools From January 2012 to January 2014 (2 years 1 month) Greater Seattle AreaSoftware Design Engineer @ Tektronix Software Design Engineer working on acquisition system diagnostics and verification of custom ASIC hardwareModified diagnostic systems to verify integrity and proper installation of hardware during boot-up cycleDesigned a manufacturing test application to give probe hardware design team low-level register access to high speed active probes. From June 2010 to January 2012 (1 year 8 months) Electrical Engineering Intern @ Crane Aerospace Worked on design verification of the PCM module for Boeing's 787 Dreamliner aircraft.Performed worst case analysis tests and created MTBF reports for several hardware components on hybrid PCB power circuits used in NASA space applications.
