Jeffery Thompson has a B.S. from Russian Studies and Russian Language, Government and Literature from Saint Petersburg State University. Thompson has also spent 4 years of his life living and working in Saint Petersburg, Russia.Thompson has always been interested in languages. He started classes at Grand Valley State University in 1990 and continued studying Russian until the summer of 1994. Since then, he has been an active member of the Russian Studies Department.In 1993, Jeffery Thompson moved to Saint Petersburg to work as an adjunct professor teaching Russian. In his time in Saint Petersburg, he has developed a strong interest in Russian culture and has been able to understand and connect with the people there in a more complete way than he ever has while living in Michigan.Thompson is currently attending the Michigan State University Russian Studies program completing his degree in 2019. While in Russian Studies, he will be specializing in East European Languages and wrote his dissertation on the Russian painter Wassily Kandinsky.
