From 2015 to February 2016 (1 year) Berkeley CAVP Product @ 3D Robotics Led development of Solo, 3DR's flagship drone. From July 2014 to March 2015 (9 months) Berkeley CaCEO & Co-founder @ Sifteo Sifteo was a venture-funded consumer electronics start-up in the gaming and play space. We raised $13M from Foundry Group, True Ventures and the National Science Foundation; designed, built and shipped two generations of mass-produced consumer electronic products into boutique and large format retailers like Barnes and Noble and Toys R Us; we built cutting edge technology in sensing, virtualization, wireless communication; shipped a library of innovative and addictive games for our system; built an API for game development and partnered with some awesome groups like Nickelodeon and designers of games like Magic: The Gathering and Bit.trip Runner - and we sold the company! From August 2009 to July 2014 (5 years) San Francisco Bay AreaAdvisor and Board Member @ 3DR, Beddr, Elroy Air, Tempo Automation I have an advisory role at a small set of companies (3DR, Tempo Automation and Beddr), and sit on the board of Elroy Air as an observer. San Francisco Bay AreaPresident @ 3D Robotics As President, I was responsible for internal leadership and execution at 3DR across all departments and I sat on the Board of Directors.3DR is North America's largest drone company, with $100M raised and an international footprint across multiple markets. At 3DR, I helped build the product and engineering team that launched Solo, our award-winning prosumer and enterprise grade drone. Solo launched in 2015 and is available across the globe through specialty and large format retail locations such as Best Buy. We grew revenue from approximately $14M in 2014 to $45M in 2015 (~3X annual growth) primarily due to Solo sales.Site Scan, our SaaS-based survey, mapping and inspection software product, launched in 2016 and features cloud-level integrations with AutoDesk and ESRI, the largest players in the construction software and GIS space. We also partnered with Sony to integrate an extremely high-resolution camera into our solution. From March 2016 to August 2016 (6 months) Berkeley, CAFounder and Partner @ Taco Lab LLC I started a design & technology consulting firm; we specialized in concept development, design and prototyping of novel devices and services, connecting people, objects and information. We combined interaction design skills and engineering skills in web development and software, networked systems, hardware engineering and device design.Clients included Hallmark Inc. (we did new device design for them), Sequoia Capital (we rebooted their website, sequoiacap.com) and the Craigslist Foundation (website redesign). From August 2007 to July 2010 (3 years) San Francisco Bay AreaGraduate Student @ MIT I completed an MS at the MIT Media Lab. From 2005 to 2007 (2 years) Cambridge, MAVideo Editor/Moving Image Designer @ EYEBEAM & Independent Work I worked as a video editor and motion graphics designer on a number of art projects. I first worked at EYEBEAM, an arts+tech atelier. In addition to some smaller projects, I worked on a 4-screen large format video art piece, "Synaptic Bliss," with artists Aziz+Cucher. This piece debuted in Paris at the Villette Numerique show. It was also shown in New York at the EYEBEAM gallery. I did a small amount of work with the artists The Yesmen while at EYEBEAM as well. After that, I worked on multiscreen video art projects with Neil Goldberg ("Why Bother?" shown at the Aldrich Museum) and Shimon Attie ("Light Under Night" shown in Oslo, then at the Miami Museum of Art). From January 2004 to August 2005 (1 year 8 months) Greater New York City AreaActor @ Screen Actors Guild I spent 2003-2005 acting in television commercials. Though I have never set out to be an actor, a friend called me about an audition, I wasn't doing anything that day, and I was cast. After that I acquired representation and did a number of spots, including TV commercials for Range Rover, Comcast and the Truth anti-Tobacco series. I have also done a Microsoft print ad.Overall, a pretty fun/weird but lucrative experience. From December 2003 to August 2005 (1 year 9 months) Greater New York City AreaResearch Assistant @ Center for Molecular and Behavioral Neuroscience - Rutgers I conducted computational neuroscience research into the neurological basis of memory, focusing on the hippocampus and the basal ganglia. This research addressed both bioplausible models and models of cognitive behavior, specifically in patients with Parkinson's Disease. Research topics included reinforcement learning, ANNs (artificial neural networks), bioplausible reinforcement learning networks. In addition to my computational research, I was trained in animal surgery and did a good bit of writing and editing -- both research papers and grant proposals. From September 2001 to December 2003 (2 years 4 months) Newark, NJEntrepreneur In Residence @ Lux Capital At Lux, I advised portfolio companies, helped source and vet deals, and pursued the ideas that became OpenSpace. It was interesting spending time on the VC side of the table.
