I am a data scientist working at DataScience Inc. in sunny Culver City, CA. I work with an awesome team of smart, dedicated analysts and engineers. Before DataScience, I was a data scientist working at AuriQ Systems Inc (www.auriq.com) developing advanced marketing attribution metrics and customer segmentation algorithms on massive ad server and web logs. I also developed cloud-based solutions for our clients to allow them to use the powerful big data engine Essentia on AWS EC2 instances. I have extensive experience in data mining, processing and analysis, model development, and statistical characterization of complex datasets. I am an excellent communicator. I have won multiple teaching/tutoring awards and I am known for being able to explain complicated concepts and problems in layman's terms. I took classes in Machine learning as well as data science. I am familiar with artificial neural networks, SVMs, PCA, anomaly detection, recommender systems, clustering, and logistic regression. My computing skills include C/C++, Python, php, SQL, shell scripting, Matlab, R, IDL and Java. I am familiar with Amazon Web Services, including Elastic Computing and S3. My tasks include planning and designing analyzes and research projects, implementing models, and supervising the work of data analysts, insight analysts, and interns. I developed a web-based interface (php, js, html, css) to allow our clients to run large-scale calculation on AWS EC2 instances from AuriQ's web UI. From February 2014 to March 2015 (1 year 2 months) PasadenaResearch Scientist in Astrophysics (Millikan Fellow) @ I was a postdoctoral fellow in observational astronomy working in the Cahill Center for Astronomy & Astrophysics at the California Institute of Technology in sunny Pasadena, California. My research focused on the gaseous cocoons (aka halos) surrounding galaxies. These halos constitute important reservoirs of fresh gas, potential fuel for star formation. How these gaseous halos are formed, replenished and evolved are cornerstones of our understanding of galaxy formation and evolution. I used some of the biggest optical telescopes in the world to answer these questions. I headed an international team and engineered a complex observational program to study young galaxies in the infant Universe. I developed 3D geometrical models and employed Hubble Space Telescope archival data to derive the first empirical constraints on the dynamics of galactic winds. I adopted likelihood techniques to identify the properties of extreme gaseous systems in the distant Universe. I implemented a new visualization package in Java to display and analyze galaxy spectra. The code provides a better alternative to existing packages by performing fast searches on large numbers (>1K) of spectra.
