Jay Wanamaker was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1965. He received his bachelor's degree in music trade from Temple University in 1988 and his marketing degree from New York University in 2000. Wanamaker was first hired at Roland Corporation in August 2014 as Executive Vice President, Global Sales. Wanamaker is responsible for sales and marketing for the Roland Corporation brand, which includes guitars, professional audio, keyboards, and drums. Wanamaker also oversees operations for the Roland Americas brand, which includes Roland Corporation's 214-store chain. Wanamaker is also responsible for developing new product offerings for the monthly Buyer's Guides sent to 3M+ households and he also designs and builds products for the Roland Corporation's 1-STOP Catalog, which consists of all Roland Corporation brands, including Roland Corporation'sGretsch Drums, Gibraltar Hardware, LP Percussion and Toca Percussion. Wanamaker is also a senior vice president at Yamaha Corporation and a VP/GM at Fender Musical Instruments Corporation. Wanamaker has been with Yamaha for 15 years, beginning as an instructor and administrator in the company's musical education division. Wanamaker also taught composition and Mass Band Events at Thornton School of Music at USC from 1981 to 1984. At State University of New York College at Potsdam, Wanamaker studied with Dr. Herbert J. Zucker. Wanamaker then went on to study at University of Southern California in 1991-1998. There, Wanamaker earned his Master of Management degree in Management. Wanamaker's educational goals are to "use music as a tool to encourage self-discovery and to contribute to the education of others."
