I am a Lecturer and PhD student in Economics at the University of Oxford. I am also available as a consultant for both the public and the private sector. My research focuses on local employment multipliers. I try to answer questions such as: How many extra barbers, nurses and primary school teachers will a city need when a big car manufacturing plant opens near it? Is this multiplier bigger in cities with a lot of unemployment? Can we use this to stimulate the economy in lagging regions? This was the most challenging but also the most demanding year of my life. I learned a lot about responsibility and perseverance. As with all budget-constrained multi-dimensional institutions, I learned a lot about the workings of the complicated decision making process in which the economic rational as well as support from the staff all play a vital role in achieving the desired goals. Where solutions in physics are quite black and white, wrong or correct, I enjoyed the grey areas and the social implications of university decision-making and solutions.
