Jason Polka is an American professional wrestler and actor. Polka is best known for his work with WWE, where he has primarily worked as a mid-card champion and one time World Heavyweight Champion.Polka was born and raised in Huntington Beach, California. Polka stopped using the name Jason Polka in the early 1990s, after he lost his father to a heart attack. He started using his birth name, John Polka, once he moved to New York City.In high school, Polka studied Krav Maga self-defense. He also played professional football for the Los Angeles Rams. According to Polka, he only played in high school because there was no other choice.He started working wrestling in the early 1990s while still in high school. Polka started working in the New York territory of Extreme Championship Wrestling where he was known as Chainsaw Jason. Polka turned professional in early 1992 and started working for the World Wrestling Federation. Polka made his major pay-per-view main event debut for the WWF on November 3, 1992 in aDeep in the Woods match against IRS Champion Shawn Michaels. Polka won the match by submitting Michaels with a body scissors.In early 1993, the WWF began a developmental program known as The Blue Blazer in which Polka was a part of. On February 12, 1993, Polka was part of a faction called The Natural duos which consisted of allies André the Giant and Shawn Michaels. The group lost to The World Tag Team Champions Rick Martel and The Undertaker.In early 1994, Michaels was released from the WWF and Polka followed suit. He became a free agent and competed in the independent circuit. Polka won the Pacific Rim tapings for the World Wrestling Federation on January 29, 1995.On March 7, 1995, Polka made his WWF debut against the Brooklyn Brawler in a losing attempt. He won the following night's major event, theWMF European Championship with a victory over the British Bulldog.On May 12, 1995, Polka made his first United States tour and won the Dayton Open with a victory over bleedingedgeX in Dayton, Ohio. On the same night, he participated in the main event of the Philadelphia Wrestling Association World Championship Tournament defeating the Masked Assassin.In early 1996, Polka won the World Heavyweight Championship from the then-champion Shawn Michaels.In the summer of 1996, the WWF merged with the World Wrestling Federation Federation into a Unified World Federation. In late September 1996, Michaels quit the WWF and Polka followed suit. Polka lost the WWF World Heavyweight Championship to fellow AWF wrestler Rikishi on October 6.Polka then reformed the Chainsaw Jason stable with partner Jamie Noble and began working for the Japan New Japan Pro Wrestling promotion. He eventually won the JNP United States Championship and returned to the United States, where he challenging the now World Tag Team Champion enhancement driver Jim Duggan for the title in a dark match on October 26, 1997. Polka won the match, but was pinned after Duggan took theMask off Polka's head.
