I've started 2 challenger banks, consulted for Google, taught at Facebook, separated billion dollar companies, and founded a successful social enterprise that helps thousands of young people get into digital skills.
My passion is digital product development and launch, and I've spent the last two years creating, building, and testing digital retail banking propositions for the two challenger banks I co-founded (Mondo and Starling).
From regulatory applications to the FCA / PRA, to recruiting the product team, managing social media, and leading the development of our acclaimed prototype banking app, I'm most happy working with customers and talented designers / engineers on creating and testing simple solutions that deliver powerful outcomes.
My background is in delivering mission critical technology programmes for large companies, like the separation of UKPN from EDF, the integration of a new power station, promotions management systems for Pepsi Co, and the separation of Birds Eye from Unilever - horrendously complex programmes with hundreds of moving parts, and disparate teams that have to buy into the change.
I like to have lunch with amazing people who can teach me something. So if you're in and around London, please reach out with a contact request and drop me a line.
Co-founder @ In Feb 2015 I co-founded Mondo - a next generation digital bank - that is taking a radically different approach to financial services. We're building a bank directly with our customers, aiming at instant, effortless, powerful personal banking, that makes personal finance easy. Building a full stack bank with a very talented team, we are aiming to deliver something very special.
As Chief Customer Officer I have responsibility for customer experience, product, and building a community that will help us build the bank that people actually want. I created the customer / product / sections of our regulatory application, and I'm currently leading product development for our forthcoming public test of the app. From February 2015 to Present (11 months) London, United KingdomCo-Founder & Chief Customer Officer @ As co-founder of Starling, I spent a year designing and developing the proposition and product around this exciting new digital bank.
Responsible for Brand, marketing, and product, I personally interviewed customers, defined our customer proposition, recruited a product team, developed prototypes, named the bank, and wrote a substantial portion of the regulatory application and business plan. From 2014 to February 2015 (1 year) London, United KingdomCEO & Head of Product @ I bring together and lead small startup teams in tackling corporate challenges around digital disruption. Through awareness of tech, connection with customers, and speed of approach, we do great things really fast. It's all about impact.
Working with small agile teams I've created projects and prototypes for Nectar, Sainsburys, and BP - driving digital innovation in the retail space. From 2014 to October 2014 (less than a year) Founding CEO & Product Director @ I co-founded Free:formers - a digital transformation company with a unique mission to help corporate executives rapidly get to grips with digital - while creating real social change for disadvantaged young people who learn first hand that the tech. sector isn't only for computer scientists.
Over 18 months I created the product and secured a fantastic set of clients (including Facebook, Google, Sky, Barclays, Aviva, Aimia, and ASOS) grew the team to 16, and secured major investment to power our expansion.
I created our 1-for-1 model, where for every corporate workshop we deliver, we run an equivalent social workshop for unemployed early twenty-somethings, and in turn work with some of these young people to become trainers for our corporate clients.
And the real measure of our success was the digital training we delivered to over 1,000 young people, just as part of our day to day business. Freeformers has been recognised with a number of national awards: including two "Stevie's", and Biggest Social Impact at the O2 Smarta 100 awards. From 2012 to 2014 (2 years) London, United KingdomManaging Director @ As Managing Director of HeartShift, I created and delivered large corporate programmes that share three common factors
1) Technology driven change
2) Tight deadlines and difficult challenges
2) Engaging staff in leading and shaping that change
From the engagement of 1000's of staff on massive systems programmes like The UK Power Networks divestment, to large logistic system implementations, and the integration of a new Power station for EDF. I've lead teams across industries, working with C-level stakeholders, and the shop floor to make big change happen.
Behind every great programme are a group of people who really make it happen. It's all about them! From 2009 to 2014 (5 years) Director @ Beaufortes helps our clients develop better project leadership skills in order to reduce the risk of project underachievement and failure.
As a director Jason has responsibility for Direct Sales, Thought leadership, and consulting with our top tier clients on the development of project leadership to balance their often excellent project management abilities.
From Supply chain strategy at Tropicana, through a complete business change reporting to the COO at Xafinity Paymaster, to the divestment of Birds Eye from Unilever, I've worked on tough assignments for C-level executives. From 2005 to 2008 (3 years) Director of Product @ I lead a technology startup attempting to disrupt the freelance / interim market with an online professional network - I created and coded the platform in PHP and worked with two other founders on creating a prototype, fund raising, and launching the platform with an innovative affiliate marketing business model. From 2002 to 2004 (2 years) Manager @ Trained and worked as a Systems Architect, designing and developing technical solutions with clients needs in mind for Aon, British Gas, De Beers, Telewest, and UPC (Netherlands).
Enjoying the tougher social and political problems that were key to project and programme success, Jason moved into the European Ventures and Alliances group, and worked on complex multi-stakeholder programmes. From 1998 to 2001 (3 years)
