Together we provide the primary care services to the 12,000 beneficiaries of Team Sheppard, which include Family Health, Pediatrics, Womens' Health, Ambulance Services, Physical Therapy and Immunizations services. From July 2015 to Present (6 months) Acupuncturist @ I provide all aspects of acupuncture, such as body, scalp & ear acupuncture to treat all forms of pain, physiological dysfunction & mental/emotional disturbances. Acupuncture combines the wisdom & experience of both eastern & western medicine to achieve a safe & relatively painless alternative treatment for difficult diagnoses, which are not responsive to traditional methods. From January 2009 to Present (7 years) Anesthesiologist @ As a board certified anesthesiologist & board certified peri-operative TEE provider, I provide all aspects of anesthesia for all age groups, disease states & surgical circumstances. I have added training & experience in cardiothoracic, neurosurgical, organ transplant & pediatric anesthesia as well as pain management. My prior roles have included the residency clerkship director of both neurosurgical & peri-operative TEE, director of residency education & both the assistant & associate program director of the USAF's only residency program in anesthesiology. Graduate medical education is my passion & a cherished component of my medical career. From August 2004 to Present (11 years 5 months) Officer, Physician & Educator @ From May 1995 to Present (20 years 8 months) Commander, 8 Medical Operations Squadron, Kunsan AB, ROK @ I served as a military commander that was charged to ensure good order, discipline & morale among the 90 great active duty & civilian personnel of the 8th Medical Operations Squadron. Together we provided the primary care services for the 2,700 beneficiaries, such as Family Health, Flight Medicine, Ambulance Services, Physical Therapy and Immunizations services as well as Public Health & Bioenvironmental Engineering services. The small, but mighty, team ensured the clinical welfare of the great people of the Wolfpack during their one year remote & unaccompanied tour. From June 2014 to June 2015 (1 year 1 month) Chief of the Medical Staff @ As the Chief of the Medical Staff I was responsible for the overall quality of health care delivered for an outpatient primary care clinic of 375 personnel, 67 privileged providers & 13,000 beneficiaries. I was the chairman of various committees, such as the Executive Committee of the Medical Staff, Professional Staff, Quality Improvement, Patient Safety, Infection Control, Population Health & others. I led all things clinical & served as the chief medical consultant for the military treatment facility commander or Chief Executive Officer. From July 2011 to June 2014 (3 years) Neurosurgical Anesthesiologist @ One year of concentrated and advanced anesthesia experience with complex tumor and vascular related craniotomies. Cases included anesthesia for awake craniotomies, deep brain stimulator placement, complex tumor excision and cerebral aneurysm clippings as well as neuro-vascular interventional radiology and cerebral trauma damage & control cases.
