Focused specifically on increasing the reliability of the footfall ground reachability maps. In order to achieve this goal a program was developed that would automatically remove self-occlusions from the seeder images that were passed to the stereovision software. From January 2010 to September 2010 (9 months) San Francisco Bay AreaUndergraduate Student Research Project (USRP) - Internship @ USRA / NASA Ames Research Center Worked in the Planning and Scheduling Group on PLEXIL.Was responsible for identifying and integrating an open source inter-process communication tool that would help to introduce a multiple executive communication model into the Universal Executive (UE) and PLEXIL programming language.(This essentially added a new networking capability to the language.)Was also involved with writing the software design specification describing how the IPC tool would interact with the rest of the UE and PLEXIL codebase.PLEXIL: http://sourceforge.net/projects/plexil/ From September 2009 to December 2009 (4 months) San Francisco Bay AreaSummer Undergraduate Research Fellow @ California Institute of Technology / Jet Propulsion Laboratory Worked in the Operations Planning Software LaboratoryWas responsible for designing and developing a plug-in for the ground control software that would assist an operator in detecting, diagnosing, and recovering from errors on the ATHLETE (All-Terrain Hex-Limbed Extra-Terrestrial Explore) lunar cargo-handling robot. From June 2008 to August 2008 (3 months) Research Assistant @ State University of New York Assisted a professor on incorporating low-cost robots into the PyRo (Python Robotics) open source framework. Wrote the device drivers enabling the IRobot Roomba to interact with the PyRo Framework. Ultimately this was the first collection of software that allowed for programming the Roomba in some higher-level language.Attended AAAI Spring Symposia ’07 and presented poster. Co-authored research paper with professor, Published in conference proceedings - “Integrating low-cost robot devices into Pyro.” From June 2006 to August 2006 (3 months)
