Head of Program Strategy @ Managing Director, Partnership Impact From August 2015 to Present (5 months) Founder & Director @ At Camp Phoenix, we envision a world in which all children have transformational experiences that propel their learning and encourage their leadership. We offer high-need students a three-week summer immersion experience that empowers them to excel in the rigors of middle school and develop 21st century skills through joyful academic learning, enrichment, and community building. As one of the founders of Camp Phoenix, I co-lead the organization's overall direction, priorities, and strategy. During our first year, brought the founding team together, recruited board members, and raised the $50,000 capital necessary to run our pilot summer program. In year 2, supported organization growth efforts to double camper size and fundraising targets which has now tripled in Year 3. Secured several large grants and individual contributions that range from $5,000-$75,000. During the summer program, serve as a co-Camp Director which oversees all camp operations and programming. Specifically, I have lead camp staffing efforts (we have grown from a team of 13 from our first summer to over 36 staff), staff training design, and ongoing staff management and support. From February 2012 to Present (3 years 11 months) Managing Director, Institute Program - Staffing @ Teach For America is a national non-profit organization committed to to enlist, develop, and mobilize our nation's most promising future leaders to grow and strengthen the movement for educational equity. Each summer, Teach For America runs several institutes which brings together almost 600 new corps members to develop and train to be exceptional teacher leaders in their communities. In my role as the Managing Director of the New York City Institute, I oversee all aspects related to our approximately 140 staff: recruitment, hiring, training, and senior-level staff management. From June 2013 to June 2015 (2 years 1 month) Manager, Teacher Leadership Development @ As a Manager, Teacher Leadership Development (MTLD), coached and supported over 100 teachers in the Oakland, San Francisco, and Richmond communities over the course of 3 years in the role. The bottom line for this position is to support teachers in portfolio towards achieving their vision and goals for students. From July 2010 to June 2013 (3 years) San Francisco Bay AreaSchool Director @ At Teach For America's summer training institute, served as a School Director which managed all instructional and operational aspects of the school site. I managed a team of 7 staff members and over 40 new teachers at Democracy Prep Charter High School. From February 2012 to August 2012 (7 months) Greater New York City AreaScience Teacher @ Served as the only middle school science teacher for the James Weldon Johnson Leadership Academy in East Harlem, NY. Had the privilege of teaching students various topics in science and foster a sense of joy and the spirit of questioning. As a teacher leader, set yearly vision and goals for the classroom, created a long-term plan, aligned unit plans and assessments, and leveraged qualitative and quantitative data to ensure maximum growth for students. My students shattered school and District 2 records based on the NY 8th grade Science Regents Exam, started a robotics club, a science lab club, National Junior Honor Society chapter, and Student Government.
