See my report below for the experience and skills sets have I acquired from my placement year at BlackBerry. From June 2015 to Present (5 months) London, United KingdomComputer Science Student With Year in Industry @ Graduated with a First Class Honours degree From September 2010 to June 2015 (4 years 10 months) Norwich, United KingdomSoftware Developer Intern @ • Worked remotely with the Birmingham team on the codec project by analysing, testing and coding copy functions, furthered my proficiency in the programming language C. Also this gave me invaluable experience on the importance of me being a strong team worker, a great communicator and highly tenacious, in order to resolve and rectify issues as efficiently as possible. • As part of tools development, I expanded upon the functionality of the filtering script for the migration work, in order to allow for more complex and efficient ways of filtering through SDL data types. This increased my debugging skills, gave me a solid understanding of programming in Perl and allowed me to understand and write Regular Expressions (RegEx) competently. • In my free time I got involved in the BlackBerry Software Skills Scheme, where I improved my programming knowledge by gaining a basic understanding of C# and Python. • Working on multiple team projects with the use of Perforce and Synergy has expanded my existing knowledge of revision/version control software and just how important these software are. As well as using my ability to adapt and learn quickly was paramount in order to keep to project deadlines. • Produced code coverage reports on a bi-weekly basis to the LTE Access Stratum team. This gave me a greater sense of responsibility within my team, tested my time management skills and furthered my report writing skills. • As part of the migration project, I was involved in developing and testing, an application to help migrate existing SDL state machines into C++ classes and functions using Visual State's API. This enhanced my C++ programming skills and improved my creativity and initiative as I was required to produce a user friendly interface for the program. In addition to this, I used my existing knowledge of state machines and applied that learning to SDL. Please see my placement report below for more information. From July 2013 to May 2014 (11 months) Slough, United KingdomTeam Member @ • Involved packaging and preparing food to customers while keeping on track with business targets. • Had to uphold to strict food hygiene regulations, so regular cleaning was essential. • Worked closely within a busy team environment, where communication and organisation was key to strong teamwork. From November 2011 to September 2012 (11 months) Norwich, United KingdomCustomer Sales Assistant @ • Customer assistance including giving advice, packaging goods and knowledge of items on shop floor. This gave me valuable experience into dealing with customers, which improved my communication skills. • Had to deal with customer complaints, which improved my ability to cope under pressure. • Stock replenishing. • Operating tills (making sale transactions, refunds on products), requires being meticulous in cash handling.
