If I'm not creating engaging web applications at work, I'm doing it on my own projects in my spare time. I've probably spent > 10,000 hours coding & designing web products.Lead Developer @ From June 2015 to Present (6 months) London, United KingdomSenior Developer @ From June 2012 to June 2015 (3 years 1 month) London, United KingdomSenior Web Developer @ From January 2011 to June 2012 (1 year 6 months) London, United KingdomWeb Developer @ Worked on projects including the European Yahoo! frontpage, message boards platform and the Finance website, I have been involved in improving user experiences for millions of users. I have been involved in the implementation and architecture of many front-end strategies that are currently powering the sites today. The technologies used have been LAMP centric with a mixture of Perl/PHP and XML/XSL configuration systems with proprietary extensions which has helped me to become highly adaptive to using unfamiliar technologies. I joined the message boards platform team to helped with a three way merge of globally forked codebases which consisted of thousands of files with thousands of lines of code. Once our codebase was stabilised I worked on a number of site optimisations including an SEO refresh, performance optimisation and countless usability enhancements. I was asked to join the Finance team to help globalise the platform starting with their news and article pages. This kicked off with a visual re-design of the pages which we had the privilege of starting over. A new CSS grid system was used with accessibility and SEO considered from the outset. I was moved to California, USA to continue work on globalising the Finance website which today is the most successful financial information website by a long margin. I have been in charge of managing the front end for the finance front page, personal finance and tech ticker sections, news pages and various quote data pages. I led an effort to standardise the Javascript library (YUI) across all of the finance site, which was previously varied across many pages and sections of the site alike. With this upgrade effort, changing the version of the libraries used would be a one step process. From July 2007 to December 2010 (3 years 6 months) Web Developer @ Responsibilities have included; the introduction of new segments & features to the core timeout.com site, upgrading & administering existing PHP code-base and porting tabular-layout to standards compliant mark-up. From February 2006 to July 2007 (1 year 6 months) Web Developer @ My work mainly consisted of creation of small business websites; of various scopes often from concept to completion. Involvement in site builds typically included designing the interface, creating XHTML and CSS templates finalising with implementations of CMS systems.
