Written in C# and Python, with a pandas-like interface friendly to non-engineers. Serves as a more-efficient drop-in replacement for pickled Pandas DataFrames, allowing researchers to use larger datasets without software engineering expertise.- Replaced the existing market-data storage system, while simultaneously supporting research use cases (arbitrarily structured data) and data science (unstructured data).- Implemented many database features in the system: indexing, append logs (for atomic writes and efficient appends), Pandas-like slice/filter operations, row deletion, query tree optimization, and more.- Optimized the system extensively throughout the stack (client- and server-side, and their RPC protocol), achieving latencies no more than a small multiple of the theoretical limit for most queries.- Migrated the most critical and heavily-loaded dataset for systematic equity researchers (factor values) from pickle-files-over-SMB to Blockstore2. No researcher downtime, no data loss, and no mismatches. Significantly increased our researchers' productivity, which had been limited by SMB file share capacity.
