"Your communication partner of choice" From September 2014 to Present (1 year 4 months) Leicester, United KingdomManagement Trainee (Intern) @ Working at Enterprise gave me an experience of dealing with a large range of clients, in both the B2B and B2C markets. Working in Hammersmith, I was responsible for working with a team of originally 5, being the only female in the office. I had to learn the roads, drive vehicles of all shapes and sizes from Chevrolet Sparks, to long wheel based vans and luxury 4x4s. My customer service skills were already good, but this position enabled me to become even more confident and understand how to deal with conflict in a professional manner. The role of a Management Trainee involved many things, from car preparation, deliveries, cash handling, dispute resolution, managing the fleet, identifying damages and problems on vehicles before they went out and many other supporting tasks, including working with a smile regardless of the weather conditions! One of the biggest learning curves with this role was time management; having a vehicle cleaned, fueled, delivered on time and collected within a very tight schedule.
After completing my year in Hammersmith, I was returning to Leeds so asked for a transfer. I was referred by my area manager to a branch in Leeds, to which I then worked part time until the April of my final year of studies. From July 2012 to March 2014 (1 year 9 months) London, United KingdomSales Assistant @ Working for The Perfume Shop was a different experience to any of my previous work experience; I had to train and learn the process of making perfume, be able to identify the different notes and fragrances within a scent, learn the background information of the perfume and other supporting aspects, which allowed me to pass that knowledge onto customers.
I was employed as a temp for the Christmas period, and was one of the only two temps who were kept on in full time employment afterwards. Customer service and product knowledge were the main responsibilities, whilst also ensuring there was enough stock, it was displayed correctly and helping with promotional merchandising. This was my first retail job I had at university, and continued to work a mixture of weekend and weekday shifts, before moving to London to start my year work placement. From November 2011 to July 2012 (9 months) Leeds, United KingdomJewellery Team Leader @ Originally being employed as a Christmas temp worker and signing a permanent contract after my trial period, I ended up working for the Home Retail Group for nearly four years. My roles and responsibilities changed as my employment length grew with the company, especially during 2009-2010 where I worked full time. My role initially was within customer service, which then expanded and included responsibilities such as stock taking, jewellery fixing, jewellery team leader (managing a small team), empty shop merchandising, sitting in during interviews with management to help select new employees, complaint handling and general maintenance. Argos gave me great flexibility, allowing me work during my studies. I undertook various training modules and whilst working full time, I attended a weekly evening college course. From October 2007 to September 2011 (4 years) Data administrator @ I joined the agency Key Personnel when on a summer break from university. From their recommendations, I worked temporarily worked as an administrator for LogoBrand and Nottinghamshire County Council. The roles were different, but together covered experience in confidential data sorting, using software, financial payments and calling B2B and B2C markets. From July 2011 to August 2011 (2 months) Nottingham, United KingdomTelesales @ Here, I was responsible for cleansing data whilst creating mainly warm leads. Sales was involved, I had targets. I worked also full time and then part time, to fit around my studies. My role involved cold calling, using excel, listening and communication skills. From July 2010 to February 2011 (8 months) General sales assistant @ Over the period of time I worked for the retail store, I did a combination of full time and part time work. My general duties consisted of greeting shoppers, offering assistance, changing room duties, stock counting, merchandising, stock deliveries, cash handling and upholding the appearance of the store throughout the day. From April 2009 to July 2010 (1 year 4 months) Nottingham, United KingdomWaitress @ This was my first real work experience. I worked at the weekends, and had responsibilities such as food preparation, cooking, serving, cash handling, stock ordering, opening and closing of the shop, and general maintenance. From September 2005 to September 2007 (2 years 1 month) Nottingham, United Kingdom
BA (Hons) Degree, Business and Management, 2:1 @ Leeds Metropolitan University From 2010 to 2014 Jade McGowan-Young is skilled in: Leadership, Retail, Public Relations, Management, Sales, Customer Service, Teamwork, Microsoft Office, Merchandising, Communication, Sales Operations, Microsoft Excel, B2B, Customer Relations, Excel
