Ian has been involved in many landmark Rail and Transportation projects for the majority of his 26 years in the construction industry in Europe, Asia and the Middle East providing valued input to the Project Management, Design and Construction teams for all projects. Ian’s wealth of experience has been complemented by his recent role as Associate Director for Engineering for a multinational engineering company leading a team of Civil, Structural and Building Services Engineers and CAD staff as well as Project Manager, Design Team Leader and Technical Advisor for the new metro systems in Dubai, Delhi, Bangkok and now Kuala Lumpur.
His range of professional roles has covered Project Director, Project Manager, Project Engineer, Design team leader, Senior design engineer and Technical advisor and these roles have provided him with an in-depth knowledge of all aspects of rail operations and systems with a particular focus on station planning, Mechanical, Electrical and Fire engineering services, Tunnel services, Tunnel Ventilation systems as well as the provision of Risk Assessment, Failure Mode Effect Analysis, Value Engineering and Operating and Maintenance Manuals.
In all projects, Ian realises the necessity of understanding each individual Clients requirements and working within the project team to ensure that they are achieved in an agreed and efficient manner.

Tender assistance for Doha Metro From September 2011 to August 2012 (1 year) Dubai Metro Project : Project Design Manager: @ Responsible for technical, commercial and construction management aspects of all Overground works associated with the Red and Green Lines comprising 35 Overground stations, Traction Power substations, emergency escape portals and the design co-ordination of multidisciplinary elements including architecture, structural, electrical and mechanical aspects. •ICTSI Container Terminal Berth 6 Project, Manila, Philippines: Project Director/design manager for new 400 metre 500,000 TEU container terminal in Manila, Philippines including all maritime, civil, structural, electrical and mechanical works along with site supervision.
•SCPT Container Terminal, Ho Chi minh City, Vietnam: Project manager/design manager for new 1000 metre 1,500,000 TEU container terminal in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam including all maritime, civil, structural, electrical and mechanical works along with site supervision.
•Asia Terminals, Inc, Manila: Project manager for site condition survey covering all aspects of structural condition for the existing Pier’s 3, 5, 9, 15 and feasibility study for improvements, cataloguing and future site maintenance studies
•North Luzon Expressway, Philippines: Design/construction close out for the first major (90 kilometre) highway/toll road in North Luzon, Philippines
•Intel Assembly and Test Facility, Cavite, Philippines: Project Director/Project Manager. Responsible for all aspects of Client and Project Management for this leading Semi-Conductor manufacturer. Services include base build and tool install works covering aspects of Civil, Structural and Building Services engineering. Principal Engineer/Site Supervision Manager for Maunsell Australia & Asia responsible for reviewing Definitive Design at the request of the client and to prepare design routing confirmation and structural opening details to expedite the construction program. Also responsible for the project management of Coordinated Services drawings design teams and provision of site technical advise and design compliance reviews From February 2003 to January 2004 (1 year) Bangkok MRTA Blue Line Metro Project: Design Team Leader, Site Technical Advisor: @ Initially responsible for reviewing the Preliminary Designs for the new Bangkok Blue Line Subway system. Subsequently employed to manage the mechanical detail and construction reference design for nine stations, three intervention shafts and 11 km of running tunnels including close and continual liaison with, Client, Contractor, Architects and Civil Engineers. Continued with the position of Site Technical Advisor to review Contractor submissions, sign off Working Drawings, Technical Submissions and As Built Drawings whilst providing Technical advice and Design liaison during installation and commissioning stage of the project.
