Gucci had much smaller professional structure, with fewer than ten employees in New York City at the time she joined the company. Nenner was responsible for managing a highly seasonal workforce, across more than thirty countries.In Michael Kors’s case, she was responsible for the entire human resources department, and reported to the CEO. Her role was to create and build a functioning human resources department that would be able to cope with the industry-wide seasonal changes and provide value to customers. She also worked with the CEO, senior managers, and other variousdivisional leaders to align the department’s strategy with upper management’s vision for the company. In Gucci, she was responsible for all human resources, from internal hiring to management of employee benefits.In both cases, her department functioned as a single point of contact for all employees in the company. This gave her a great deal of control and an ability to connect with her team. She was also able to take on minor duties and responsibilities in her department, which also helped to develop a network within the department.Overall, Nenner found that managing human resources is a very rewarding endeavor. She loves the sense of autonomy and control that comes with having total responsibility for all aspects of her team’s success. As a manager, she has the ability to connect with her team and develop a great relationship with them. She also enjoys challenges and the opportunity to learn new things.
