IT Architect @ The IT Architecture Group is a new team formed to bridge the gap between strategic business architecuture planning and the technical decisions that get made every day by people that deliver Safeway's technology solutions. Our charter is to directly impact IT's ability to quickly deliver sound business platforms while managing the complexity of our information technology footprint. We are responsible for defining Safeway's IT architectures and the supporting standards. We identify critical capability gaps and sponsor programs to enable those capabilities. We drive adoption of the target architectures by aligning project teams to appropriate standards. And we must review and approve all solution architectures. From April 2009 to Present (6 years 9 months) Manager, Enterprise Architecture @ My team provides guidance and insight to IT decision makers to help them better understand various strategies in play within IT and our business units. We are the custodian for the enterprise architecture practice at Safeway, and help other architecture teams organize to be effective in our federated architecture model. We provide technical leadership in developing architecture specifications and methods, and guide the evolution of architecture governance. Enterprise architecture also facilitates the development of transformation programs by working with our IT and business leaders to understand their goals and opportunities, help them articulate their strategies, and define target architecture and migration plans to support those strategies. From June 2004 to March 2009 (4 years 10 months) Manager, Internet Systems Engineering @ My team was responsible for developing core infrastructure engineering and management knowledge related to internet technologies. We created in-house knowledge for how to manage our own domains and name services, establish an internet presence, establish a discipline for managing java application servers, and maintained the Netscape email and ldap directory infrastructure. From January 2001 to June 2004 (3 years 6 months) Manager, Desktop and Server Engineering @ My team was responsible for developing and implementing configuration standards for the Novell and Windows infrastructure. This included both hardware and software standards, and associated vendor management. From April 2000 to January 2001 (10 months) LAN Engineer @ Joined Safeway as a systems engineer / administrator, responsible for developing and implementing configuration standards for the company's Novell server and Windows desktop infrastructure. Was lead technician for the implementation of Netscape Suitespot (Mail, Calendar, Directory, Communicator) infrastructure, and successfully migrated Safeway to a unified platform for email, office scheduling, and directory services. Consolidated and reconciled existing email accounts from 4 other platforms including O/S 390, A/S 400, MS Mail, and Novell Groupwise. From May 1997 to April 2000 (3 years)
