I am a member of the engineering teams at Upwork, an online workplace for the world – connecting clients with top freelance professionals from San Francisco to Sao Paulo. We are the world's largest freelancer marketplace. At Upwork, I am head of technology where the data science, infrastructure, quality, tech ops, IT, and application engineering teams report to me.
In previous roles, I've:
* Led the engineering team for an incubator inside eBay that inspired the employee base and was a PR machine for the company. Notable projects the team produced included (but are not limited to): Conjoining two major marketplaces Ariba with eBay, Rich Pin integration with Pinterest, mobile apps in emerging markets (Russia, Brazil), the eBay Motors and eBay Fashion apps, RedLaser, eBay Valet, RedLaser for Google Glass, and digital goods.
* Led the teams that launched native mobile Netflix applications running on iOS, Apple TV and Android in LATAM, UK, and IE.
* Helped launch the inaugural version of Netflix on Android and led several of the early product pushes.
* Helped scale eBay's mobile business from 200M gross merchandise volume to 2B+ and in the process grow the engineering team from just me to over 80+ contractors and FTEs.
* Managed global engineering organizations in mobile (web and native mobile) with multiple applications downloaded by millions of customers.
* Managed all facets of the software development process and product architecture: QA, R&D, Documentation, and Sustaining Engineering in both enterprise and consumer software applications.
* Built a social network that was sold to a publicly traded company and whose side projects have been featured by premium sites such as MakeUseOf and TechCrunch.
