Greg Sikes graduated from University of California, Berkeley in 1984 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Greg then moved on to University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to get his BS in Aeronautical Engineering. While at UIUC, Greg was a member of the engineering program’s graduate business class and also unsuccessfully ran for student body president.While still at UIUC, Greg founded his own engineering consulting company, Sikes Consulting. About this time, Greg met his wife Kim and they married in 1986. Gregory and Kim soon had two children and the Sikes’s moved to Irvine, California.In 1990, Greg and Kim founded their first business, a dry erase board company. Greg quickly recognized that his engineering skills and business acumen could be put to good use in tech startups. In 1992, he co-founded and became the president of ThoughtBird, a business software company.
