Gordon Zhen's educational background and work readiness background is as follows:Gordon Zhen has a B.S. in Business/Managerial Economics from the University of California, Davis. Zhen worked as a futures trader for The Wall Street Journal in 2011. Zhen then worked in development for received a j'oui ( French for "nickname") from French fitness entrepreneur Caroline Fouquet. Fouquet is the founder of Recharge, an energy retailer in France. She provided Zhen with the nickname "J'oui" which he uses toordanize his name Gordon.

Gordon Zhen has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of California-Davis and a Master of Science in Technical Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. After studying business at UC Davis, Gordon Zhen moved on to work as a technical recruiter for LinkedIn. From there, he worked as a financial analyst at Toyon Associates, Inc. and then as an FX specialist/analyst at Wells Fargo in San Francisco. Gordon then moved on to Leanplum, a startup that specializes in developing mobile apps, and became their first technical recruiter. He then worked with Workbridge Associates, a staffing and consulting company, for three years, until COVID-19 hit. From there, he was offered a position at Advent Health, a top medical charity, and he’s currently leading their technical recruiting team. He’s worked on numerous pro bono searches for non-profits, and has generated some pretty impressive results.
