Gilmore served two terms as mayor of Hamilton, NJ, a city of nearly 100,000. During his tenure, he chaired NJ's League of Municipalities Economic Development Task Force and, for the first time, his community was recognized by Money magazine as “one of the best places to live in America." He served on the RWJU Hospital Board of Directors.
Lauded a “national hero” by The NY Times for his leadership during America’s anthrax crisis, he appeared on Good Morning America, CNN, Fox News, and BCC. As an adjunct instructor with Texas A&M University, he helped develop and deliver crisis leadership training.
A former judicial law clerk and municipal prosecutor, he is a member of the American Bar Association.

• Characterized a “national hero” by The New York Times for his “quick response” to our Nation’s anthrax crisis, in October of 2001, after it was discovered that all four anthrax-laden letters responsible for the crisis passed through a regional postal facility located in Hamilton, exposing over a thousand workers there to a deadly infection. Described as “a man of action” by Time magazine and “a high-energy suburban mayor” by The Washington Post for organizing a massive treatment clinic when state and federal authorities failed to do so. Appeared on Good Morning America, CNN, BBC, and numerous other news broadcasts.
