I lived in 3 continents, speaking 3 languages before I was 17. I excel in both the arts and the sciences and could never relate to why these fields seem so mutually exclusive to those around me. From a young age I’ve painted, constructed, designed, composed, filmed and loved experimenting with any form of creation possible.
Motivation for my computer science studies came from the will to articulate my own decision making logics to a refined problem solving machine language. Mechanical engineering degree was my way of expanding the domain in which i could apply these problem solving abilities. While my main interests were robotics and control systems, what I ended up acquiring was a solid base knowledge of natural phenomena harnessed by today’s technologies.
My current job at Magisto is a testament to the benefits of being both an artist and a scientist. Positioned as the bridge between our engine development team and the creative department it is among my responsibilities to convert computer generated knowledge into design and editing decisions for the movies of our 80 Million users. I write code that automates tedious processes that previously had to be made by people. I develop scripts and programs that help us catch mistakes long before they become an issue. I conceive complete, robust solutions because I am not limited to any one aspect of what we do but rather take pleasure in understanding the system’s needs and limitations as a whole.
I strive for excellence in every feat not for the benefit of anyone save my own pride in the work I do. I feel my attitude towards my work reflects on who I am and how much I value the time I put into my creations regardless of ownership. I love asking questions, challenging our assumptions and am not ashamed to say “I don’t know”.
