About	My career goal is to discover and develop new therapies for human metabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, obesity and heart disease. I previously worked, in the laboratory of Dr. Roberta Gottlieb on elucidating the role of mitochondrial degradation by autophagy during cardiac stresses such as a heart attack. Currently, I am pursuing a PhD degree in Cell, Molecular Bology and Pharmacological Sciences at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas where I joined the laboratory of Drs. David Mangelsdorf and Steven Kliewer. Here, I will be studying the physiology and pharmacology of the starvation hormone fibroblast growth factor 21. In the future I hope to establish my own research laboratory and mentor students in the sciences while conducting new and exciting metabolic research.
