Gary Baker is the Sr. Director of Training & Development for Delek US Holdings, a Fortune 500 company based in Brentwood, TN. Over the last nine years, Gary has built the training organization for Delek US, which includes Retail, Refining, and Logistics. He implemented a company-wide hiring, orientation and training platform (H.O.T.) that includes Delek Academy, an online corporate university, and online operations, policies, and retail manuals.
A Central Illinois native, Gary graduated from Lincoln Christian University in 1982, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. Gary began his operations and training career working for a McDonald’s franchisee and then McDonald’s Corporation. After a 13-year career in successively higher operations and training roles within McDonald’s Corporation, Gary accepted the Manager of Training position with The Krystal Company in Chattanooga, TN. At Krystal, Gary redeveloped the training programs for line and management, which included the implementation of a 250 store wide area network and a bi-lingual e-learning platform called Krystal Kollege.
In 2002, Royal Roads University admitted Gary to their Masters Program in Distributed Learning. After graduation, he accepted a position with Ingram Book Group, as the Director of Learning and Development. At Ingram, Gary aligned learning and development efforts to company goals across six national and international distribution channels with a focus on management and executive leadership.
Gary has shared his passion and knowledge with his peers by presenting training strategies, techniques, and results at numerous professional events including the 2016 Training Conference & Exposition, Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education World Conference (2007); the Association of Career Professionals International Summer Conference (2006); the American Society of Training and Development National Conference, and the International Learning Manager Conference in 2003.
