I customized the kernel and selectively populated the root FS. I also enhanced two of the device drivers: I added link-state detection to the ethernet controller driver to detect an unplugged cable, and I patched the UART device driver to add support for remote serial kernel debugging. From July 2011 to January 2012 (7 months) Austin, TexasSoftware Developer @ Giganews I was part of a team that developed a search engine that indexed nearly 10,000 Usenet newsgroups. The system aggregated posts containing related binary data and generated NZB files referencing those posts in order to provide simplified search results to a Usenet client desktop application.
