I lead the core engineering group at Audible, an Amazon company. We own the technical direction for the company. That includes the service platform (http://api.audible.com) and things like our multi-tenant globalized web stack and our Android and iOS frameworks. As an example I designed the streaming platform for Audible that's used on the Amazon Echo among other things. I also oversee the architecture group, our hiring process, our engineer mentoring programs, developer onboarding and the occasional Hackathon (http://bit.ly/1NWwabi).
In my spare time I run ultra-marathons.
I'm an avid technologist with 18+ years of broad experience. I've spent the last 4 years drinking from the firehose at Audible (Amazon) and 8 years prior in the financial sector building teams, designing systems and shipping software.
I build software for a living (http://Audible.com) and in my spare time I play with software (https://mygreatlistens.com). Occasionally I build hardware ( http://bit.ly/k0CyTi ).

My team focuses on strategic design, software quality, operational efficiency, client integrations, R&D and the technology roadmap.
I'm hiring and interested in meeting curious people I can learn from. Find me on twitter @francisshanahan and let's grab coffee.
