Fabian Urquijo started his professional career in 1996 as an assistant accountants at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Buenos Aires, Argentina. After a brief stay in London, England, he returned to Argentina to take the post of accountant at Banco BPM. Two years later, he left Banco BPM to take the post of controller financial planning at Banco Lan Colombia SA. From 2001 to 2003, he was the vice president financial planning at Banco InBanca Europe SA. From 2004 to 2006, he was the controller financial planning at Banco Santander Argentinas. In 2006, he became the manager of the group insurance operation at BBVA.
